Stoney River Legendary Steaks - a TravelHost Review

posted Sunday, 5 August 2007

Our buddies Wade and Nancy Poole met us for dinner last night at Stoney River Legendary Steaks. I don't know what it is about Stoney River that I like so much, but let's just say I really like this restaurant! They served me the second best steak I've ever eaten. Hands down. I had the legendary filet. Every bit of 14 ounces if not more and prepared perfectly. I had them put the blue - sorry, bleu - cheese topping and it was not necessary at all. In fact, don't get any toppings. The steaks are that good without any interference from toppings. As usual, I had the garlic mashed potatoes and there are no better mashed potatoes anywhere! They're real potatoes, not fakes. I'm a bread freak and they serve these little bread balls that aren't my favorite cup of tea. They were tasty, but I'd rather have had something a little more hearty. But that's just me. Wade loved the bread balls. Sande had a ribeye and it, too, was very good. Just the right about of marbling and very little gristle, unusual for a ribeye. Other than great steaks and an outstanding wine selection, the atmosphere at Stoney River is a real plus. It's homey. Yes, it's upscale, but homey. You enjoy just being there. One of my favorites and they didn't let me down this time, either.
