Louisville is Booming!

The state of Louisville's hospitality market

Friends, if you haven't checked out Downtown Louisville lately, you're really missing the boat. Louisville's downtown is exploding right before our very eyes and the pace of downtown's growth isn't showing any signs of slowing.

Remember how downtown was ten years ago? Or even five years ago? Restaurants lived on lunches...and didn't really expect much action after the drinks after work crowd left downtown for the cozy confines of east end clubs and restaurants. We lived in a deserted city. At 5:00 p.m., every street and sidewalk in the city was clogged with people with one thought in mind. Going home.

Not anymore. Downtown's streets and sidewalks are clogged throughout the evening and well into the morning. It's nothing short of miraculous. Hotels are thriving and there are more coming in every day. New restaurants are opening everywhere around and we're seeing an explosion of new apartments, condos and totally cool loft-style accomodations. Louisville is rocking! And it's something you just have to see to believe.

And the energy isn't just limited to downtown. The Highlands is going strong and Crescent Hill is, too. The West End is prettier than its been since the 1937 Flood and the south end is coming along nicely, too.

And, wow, how about Southern Indiana? It's growing as fast as Louisville. Somebody has done something very right.

Lots of people deserve a lot of credit, but you gotta start at the top...Mayor Jerry Abramson. Dude - now this guy's a mayor! Kudos, Mayor Abramson. You rock!
