Mojito is one of Louisville's newest eateries. This Cuban/Caribbean restaurant is in Holiday Manor Shopping Center, between US 42 and US 22, just east of the Watterson Expressway in the space formerly occupied by LaPeche.
The menu is really awesome if you like Caribbean food (and I do!) and chances are you'll find something you will really love!
Mojito specializes in tapas...Spanish appetizers like Calamares Fritos, Queso Fundido and Croquetas de Cangrejo. They also have a great selection of Tablas, food served on cutting boards (Tabla de Charcuteria and Tabla de Chimichurri), and Pinchos, food served on skewers (Pincho Moruno, Pincho de Pollo and Pincho de Solomillo).
The atmosphere is casual and there are lots of outside dining opportunities. But the food is prepared and presented in a manner one would associate with fine dining, i.e. excellent garnishes, artfully presented and superb service.
Ron Z and I had the Frita Cubana - a mix of black Angus beef, Spanish ground chorizo (a delightful Spanish pork sausage) and Cuban spices. The topping included tiny fried onion rings, a white mozzarella cheese and a light vinegar based sauce. Rating? 10+ on my hamburger scale. Right up there with my perennial favorite, Ollieburger! The meal came with homemade potato chips (very good) and we got an order of sweet potato fries - they are to die for and I'm not kidding!
We fed both of us, two adult men, for $24, including tip. We liked this place!
