Carly Rae's Restaurant Opens

posted Saturday, 17 February 2007

Herb and Gayle Warren have opened a new restaurant in Old Louisville, Carly Rae's.

Herb and Gayle Warren, owners of two of Louisville's best known bed and breakfast inns the Dupont Mansion and the Inn at the Park, have just opened a really great new restaurant in Old Louisville, Carly Rae's.  Located in historic Old Louisville at the corner of First and Oak Streets, Carly Rae's is one of those cozy little cafes that makes you feel comfortable the moment you walk in the door. They serve a delightful brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and are open for lunch and dinner daily. Their lunch menu is HUGE and offers tons of variety and their dinners are to die for! Prices are quite reasonable. These folks are active participants in Old Louisville affairs and have made - and continue to make - substantial investments that will benefit the community. It's truly a "can't miss" destination in Old Louisville.

I'm sorry, but Carly Rae's was very mediocre, to be diplomatic. My wife and I had the bacon wrapped scallops and the baby back ribs. The scallops were tiny and the ribs were clearly pre-packaged and tough. The house salad was iceberg lettuce. This was definitely not just a "bad night" either. Unfortunately, I would never recommend this place. I am sorry, because from what I've read, the owners seem nice. However, if they don't hear what they're doing wrong, they don't know they need to improve.

Thanks for your feedback, Bill S. I haven't eaten there for awhile and my only experiences have been over lunches, which were always quite good. I will notify the proprietors on your behalf. Thanks!
